Fireworks, ice sculptures, games & activities, musical performances and a countdown to midnight! New Years Eve in Portsmouth is a fun time for the whole family to enjoy one of Portsmouth’s most treasured holiday celebrations. Take a look below for some First Night local specials.

NYE Fireworks - Pro Portsmouth
Ice Sculpture Installation: Setup to begin at 2:00 pm.
Fireworks Display: 7:30 pm at the South Mill Pond.
Guess conductor Dr. Dirk Hillyer and the PSO are pairing up again to ring in another New Year! They’ll be joined by special guest tenor Ben DiScipio, winner of Boston’s highest musical theater award, who brings a variety of talent in Broadway, operetta, and jazz to this year’s Champagne Pops!
Audiences will enjoy favorites from Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter along with highlights from Les Miserables, Gypsy, and Carmen and you can expect Duke Ellington to “pop” in as well!
Family NYE Celebration - The Children's Museum
Join us for our family friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration and ring in the New Year before bedtime!
Enjoy “countdowns to midnight” at 10:30am during the morning play session (9am-Noon), or 2pm during the afternoon play session (12:30-3:30pm) — we’ll lower our glittery disco ball, confetti will fly through the air, and wish blimps made by visitors will gently fall to the ground—it’s always a festive and fun environment that is reminiscent of Times Square. Visitors can make sparkly recycled paper hats throughout the event and enjoy a fun New Year photo booth! All activities are included in regular museum admission and free for members!
The Museum closes early at 3:30pm today and will be closed on New Year’s Day. Generously sponsored by the UNIQUE College Investing Plan and Kennebunk Savings Bank.

JazzBoree NYE - Jimmy's Jazz & Blues Club
Join us for an epic, Gatsby-esque New Year’s party at the swankiest speakeasy in town Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club.
Picture an all-star orchestra filling the room with high-energy swing dance music as intoxicating as the fine spirits people are sipping in those glasses that keep clinking. A lavish New Year’s Eve buffet menu featuring a symphony of flavors as intoxicating as the music. Musical Director Scott Sharrard is channeling the likes of Louis Armstrong, Ma Rainey, Mamie Smith and many more to create an original evening of swing/jump blues music inspired by the Roaring Twenties reimagined for 2023
So bid adieu to 2022 with an unforgettable evening of fine dining, dancing and romancing (and dash of time-traveling), with laughter bouncing from the rafters and sweet swing music ringing in your ears. The Countdown is ON!!!
