Join a walking tour where our knowledgeable guides will highlight the historic homes, trademark tugboats and working waterfront, vibrant Market Square, colorful Prescott Park, and more.

You’ll hear stories about the rich and famous, along with the merchants and madams, brewers and politicians, fishermen and shipbuilders, writers and publishers that made Portsmouth the talk of the nation in their day. Over the past three centuries, the people who lived, worked, and built their lives here have created a rich cultural tapestry full of personality, ambition, and history. Portsmouth was, and still is, a town full of characters.

Where to Meet

All tours depart from the Market Square Information Kiosk, across from North Church, at 1PM, and last approximately 90 minutes. Total walking distance is about one mile.
